Nokia Theatre L.A. Live di Los Angeles tirato a lucido per la grande festa degli American Music Awards 2014: i vincitori della 42^ edizione dei premi musicali statunitensi sono stati i One Direction e Katy Perry con tre riconoscimenti ciascuno, ma la serata è andata molto bene anche per Taylor Swift, Iggy Azalea e Beyoncé (due premi a testa).
La boy band più famosa del mondo si è portata a casa i premi Artist of the Year, Favorite Pop/Rock Band e Favorite Pop/Rock Album (grazie a Midnight Memories uscito lo scorso anno), mentre la bella Katy Perry, che non ha potuto partecipare all’evento in quanto occupata con il suo tour in Australia, ha vinto nelle categorie Favorite Pop/Rock Female Artist, Favorite Adult Contemporary Artist e Single of the Year (con Dark Horse feat. Juicy J).
Come detto, Taylor Swift, Iggy Azalea e Beyoncé sono state le altre protagoniste degli American Music Awards 2014 (è stata un’edizione molto al femminile), ma importanti riconoscimenti sono andati pure a 5 Seconds of Summer (New Artist of the Year), Sam Smith (Favorite Pop/Rock Male Artist), John Legend (Favorite Soul/R&B Male Artist), Imagine Dragons (Favorite Alternate Artist), Enrique Iglesias (Favorite Latin Artist) e Calvin Harris (Favorite EDM Artist).
Eccezionali poi, come al solito, le performance dal vivo che hanno reso bollentissima l’atmosfera del teatro losangelino: imperdibili soprattutto quelle che hanno coinvolto Taylor Swift con Blank Space, Charli XCX con un medley di Boom Clap e Break the Rules, il suo Sam Smith/A$AP Rocky sulle note di I’m Not the Only One, Ariana Grande e The Weeknd con Problem, Break Free e Love Me Harder, Jennifer Lopez e Iggy Azalea con Booty e un super gruppo formato da Lil Wayne, Christina Milian, Nicki Minaj e Skylar Grey che ha cantato Start A Fire e Bed of Lies.
